They played at Joe’s Generic Bar, and Antone’s where they would play on stage with such legends as James Cotton and Hubert Summlin. In their teenage years Eve’s dad would take them to play at famous blues clubs in and around Austin Texas. When they were in the 8th grade at school they formed a band together, and won a school talent competition playing covers like Pride and Joy (Stevie Ray Vaughan). They used to play in Eve’s parents garage listening to recordings of the likes of T Bone Walker and working out how to play those tracks. Gary Clark Jr probably would never have picked up a guitar if it wasn’t for his childhood friend and neighbour Eve Monsees.
